What Skill Sets Are Needed By A Graphic Designer?

Important Skills:

    • Attitude - Sorry to say, but if you don't have this skill set you most probably will never get a job, not only in graphic design, but genially everywhere you apply. It is very important to have a good attitude towards what you are applying for. If clients see you being very 'boring' you will be considered jobless to their company/job. Always important to keep a good attitude and smile throughout to show interest basically.
    • Software experience - Always remember to be honest when it come to how well you can use a program within interviews or your creative CV. It is always needed to know your knowledge on most software that graphic designers use today, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash and other adobe programs.
    • Style - Having a style in design is extremely important, you want to avoid copyright at all costs, so what would be better than having an individual style that makes your work yours?
    • Teamwork - You'll occasionally have to work in teams with others, and its important to keep a good stable momentum going to show professionalism
    • Other Skills out of Graphic Design - Its always nice to have skills within other subjects to boost your CV and chance of getting a job, or obviously better outcomes. Good skills to have outside graphics would be Photography, Mixed Media skills (Printing), 3D based work, traditional and digital (Z-brush, Maya).
    • Communication - You need this along with networking skills to help you secure jobs with potential clients, a good personality on top of this will almost guarantee you a job, and obviously if you have the skill sets for the job role.
